Memorial Day Weekend!

Jordin, P-cakes and I wanted to make the most of our longer weekend. We decided that we could use a little fresh air and we went to Montrose for the weekend. We got there late Thursday night and then played around with the family on Friday. On Saturday we went on a hike. The trail is called curecanti. (I don't actually know if that is spelled right.) It was such a great time! We weren't sure about going because it's sometimes hard to drive a long way with P-cakes, who is not a huge fan of the car seat, but we are so glad we went!

This is Jordin and P-cakes walking down the trail on Curecanti. She loves to go on hikes! I tried to get a pic of her with her hands in the air, but this one kind of shows it. She giggles the whole way!

Family pic! You can't see it very well, but there is a RAGING river behind us.  The hike follows the water the whole way and because of all this rain it was SO full!

See? I told you.

This is a bridge that goes over the river, which is good because we would have drowned trying to cross it. :)

On the way, we took a break to play in the water.

It was SO cold!

This is us snacking a bit. P-Cakes LOVES drinking from camelbak's.

P-cakes thinks that if anyone is eating food, she has claim to it.

She makes this look good!

This is on the way out of the canyon, P-cakes fell completely asleep. I can't imagine she was comfortable, but she slept for an hour like that. Oh, to be little and super flexible!

I had to get a shot from the back. (Of P-cakes!) Shw was buckled around the waist but with the way she was sleeping, it looks like she was trying to get out!

Okay, this is the reason we had to go on hikes. Jordin and I went to Romano's Macaroni Grill last Tuesday and got some dessert: the Lemon Passion Cake. It was amazing! So, when we were in CO I cornered Jody into helping me make this. It was SO SO good!

We took a break from our adventures to relax a little on Sunday and have a picnic with Jody's side of the family. Then on Monday, we knew we had to take advantage because we had to leave later that day. We decided to do another hike. We drove to Ouray and did the trail called Upper Cascade Falls. It was SO hard! It was the complete opposite of Curecanti which was down then back up. This one was UP UP UP then down.
Here's Jordin and P-cakes takin' a breather.

This was FINALLY when we were done with the switch backs. We go along a rock wall for a ways before you go to the other side of the mountain and back into the falls. Jordin saw this wicked cool tree.
Once we got around the mountain we came across A LOT of snow. A LOT. It covered the trail so much that we had to trail blaze our own path to get across. I didn't love it. :) A little too crazy for me.
This is when we were passed all the snow. Happy!

Here's the falls!! We made it!

It was cool, but SO cold! Look at how Jordin is holding his freezing hands trying to warm them up!
What you didn't see in these pictures is how we went to Mouse's Chocolates after and ate delicious truffles and shakes! It was a great weekend. We didn't want to go home, but alas work needs to be done. But what fun memories. I told Jody and Daren as we were leaving "It's not a good trip to Colorado without some crazy hiking adventure." I am rarely let down. :)

30 Day Challenge: Day Eighteen

A picture of your biggest regret.

I regret how bad I am at staying in contact with friends. I am HORRIBLE at it. I think of my friends a lot but i am not actually good at calling or texting back. But, I love them! And, thankfully, most of them know I am bad at keeping in  touch and love me anyway. :)

30 Day Challenge: Day Seventeen

A picture of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently.

She loves to try and feed herself. It's really entertaining! ... and really messy!
We took her to a little park that always has duck and I thought she would be terrified, but she loved them!

I sometimes wonder what life would be like if we hadn't of had P-Cakes. Well, we'd probably stay up later knowing we didn't have to wake up at 6:30-7 every morning. We wouldn't have toys everywhere all the time. But then, we wouldn't have her! Look at this adorable girl. She has definitely changed our life but it is 1,000,000 times better!

30 Day Challenge: Day Sixteen

A picture of someone who inspires you.

Jordin and I both agree that this is a man that truly inspires us both. President Gordon B. Hinckley was a man of greatness, without ever trying to achieve greatness. He was a man of God. He was not only amazing because he worked hard and did A LOT to spread the gospel, he was amazing to us because he was OUR prophet. He had a special connection to those of mine and Jordin's generation. He was 'one of us' in a way. He was incredibly relate-able to us. I've read his biography and I have grown to love and admire this man for all he accomplished in his life and the person that he was. He really was a prophet of God.

30 Day Challenge: Day Fifteen

A picture of something you want to do before you die.
Look how pretty!

On our way to Costa Rica!!!!

Seattle

Four Corners

Our Honeymoon in the Bahamas

Pretty, huh! See, this is why traveling is so amazing! Awesome views!

We love to travel!

Jordin and I love to travel! Our next trip is to Northern Cali, after that it's Hawaii, after that, who knows! But we want to travel the world. Both Jordin and I want to visit every state in the US, except maybe North Dakota... There's no real reason to go there... ;) This world is pretty amazing. So many cultures to explore, so many kinds of food to eat, so many different places to see. My parents have really distilled that in me.

One time, my sister was in a class and a guy was making a presentation about a trip that the school offered to go to Europe for a month. One of his arguments was that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. My sister later told me the story and our reactions were the same: there is nothing about traveling that is a once in a lifetime opportunity! We can travel anywhere, anytime (obviously with money and planning). I love that realization. Doesn't that make you want to hop on a plane and go somewhere?

30 Day Challenge: Day Fourteen

A picture of someone you could never imagine your life without.

Is this getting repetitive to anyone? Well, sorry. But hello! I love my family so that's what you get is pictures of them over and over. ;) I have such a riot with this little pudgy girl everyday. She is learning to walk and is getting along with our dog, Dash. I have been so in love with this girl since day one and it keeps getting better and better. Life would be horrible, gloomy and completely void of love and joy without this little P-Cakes.

30 Day Challenge: Day Thirteen

A picture of your favorite band or singer.
Jordin and I love Dashboard Confessional. As if you needed proof: Our Song is "Stolen" by them. They are great! Our dog's name is Dash, named after them, and funny enough if you call him by his full name it is Dash Boyd which sounds like Dashboard. :) Oh, we're funny. I think (if I have my way) we'll name our next dog Fray after the band, The Fray. It's a good tradition, I think. :)

30 Day Challenge: Day Twelve

A picture of something you love.

I obviously love my family. That's what this whole blog is all about. So instead of putting up a pic of my family like I've done before, I chose to place a picture of something that I love so much and helps my family. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has helped me in my life. It helps me to have knowledge and comfort in this crazy world that we all live in. I have come a long way in my life and it is because of this gospel. I have a true testimony of the truthfulness of this church. I know that it is true. I know that not everyone that may read this believes the same things I believe. And that's fine. You don't need to if you don't want to. But I know that its true and that feels me with so much joy. I truly love this church.

30 Day Challenge: Day Eleven

A picture of something you hate.
I hate winter. Correction- I hate the cold! For a person that graduated college from the original ice-burg, it's really no surprise. There is nothing happy about snow, blizzards, ice, and all assortments of horrible winter-y things. The only good things that come from winter are hot chocolate, christmas, and snuggling in front of a fire. I would much rather be sweating in 95 degree weather than freezing in -20 degree weather (thanks for that, Rexburg). Okay, I didn't mean for this to sound quite so serious about my dislike for the winter, but I guess that's why I picked it for my post today. :)

Happy Summer, everyone! Here are some pics of P-cakes enjoying the WARM weather....

P-cakes and Dashel looking longingly at the warm outside

She's a big cheese ball and she's happy that it's summer!

Hanging with her BFF's, the twins.

Look at that joy!

She's ready for football season! Really, she hates the feel of grass and this is her touching as little as possible...

Gross. Grass. Yucky.

Okay, P-cakes wasn't really enjoying summer so much at this point. But I thought it was a super cute pic. Summer still isn't soft if you fall.

30 Day Challenge: Day Ten

A picture of the person you do crazy things with.

I tried to find one pic with my whole family but had to use multiple pic instead. I do all kinds of crazy things with my family!!! Just look at these pics! Jordin and I are so grateful for our families and feel really blessed that we get along with everyone so well. We have so much fun when we get to spend time with them and while it may not seem too crazy with the picture of Pailey's birthday party, it was pretty crazy to have both side of the fam all hanging out together for the weekend! It was so much fun! Jordin and I (and little P-Cakes) are truly blessed.

30 Day Challenge: Day Eight

A picture that makes you laugh.
So I did this post 2 days ago but it's not showing up. :( So I'm doing it again!

This picture makes me laugh so much! She is the funniest little baby. She was about 3 months old when this pic was taken and she didn't mind things going over her head. Now, she hates putting clothes over her little dome. She is such a goober!

30 Day Challenge: Day Nine

A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most.

These are the TWO people that get me through things. Jordin has been my best friends for nearly 6 years and has a way of understanding me when I'm frustrated or feeling down. He is and always be there for me. And miss p-cakes because she is the cutest thing in the world and especially recently she is so much more of an adult and understands things and we communicate more. She can turn any frustration into joy with a cute look or funny thing that she does. I love my family!

30 Day Challenge: Day Seven

A picture of your most treasured item.
These are obviously not my books, but our bookcases full of books are definitely treasured items of Jordin's and mine. We love to read and we take a lot of pride in our growing library.

30 Day Challenge: Day Six

A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day.

Okay, I know that with Angelina Jolie you either love her or hate her. Well, I think she's great. And some of the reasons I would trade places with for a day: She's beautiful, obviously that'd be cool. She is completely financially stable which would be an amazing feeling I can't even imagine. She is married to Brad Pitt, hello! (P.S. I love Jordin. I love Jordin. I love Jordin.) :) She has beautiful children and has adopted some of them which i believe is amazing and think of maybe doing myself one day. She cares about other nations and takes efforts to help others. It would be cool to step into her shoes for a day.

It's been a while...

Hello! It's only been over 2 1/2 years since I last posted. Nothing really has changed between then and now... except most everything! :...
