Things we've done.

Because life is random, this post is going to be a random medley of things that the Boyd's have been up to. Sorry if it's too detailed, but since I have a severe case of prego brain and can't remember anything, I want to make sure I keep track of events.

To start, here are some pics of Jordin's birthday cake that I made. He loved it. It's a campfire, Get it?

He's so old that I only had 24 of the tall candles and had to add 2 pink ones to add up to 26!!

Here is a video of Pai at the bowling alley when Jordin's work had a party there. They did the disco lights and loud music for a bit and she LOVED it. I especially like the end where she is like, "Okay, I'm done." :)

So about 2 weeks ago, Pai and I were working on getting our old house all cleaned up and ready to be officially moved out, when I had a long painful contraction. So I waited a bit and then called my Dr and her nurse told me to go to the hospital. I didn't really want to, but I was freaked out a bit. So Jordin left work and came and took me to the hospital. By the time we got there the pain had gone, so I called the nurse again to see if we really needed to go in and she said its better to be safe than sorry. Agreed.

So we spent about 4-5 hrs with monitors on my belly to make sure everything was okay. After 5 hrs they didn't find anything to have caused the random 20 min contraction but they did see that I did have some contractions while I was there. They said that it could have been caused by stress, being sick (I had a little cough), dehydration, a pulled muscle, etc. At least everything was fine with the baby.
This is what happens when you go to the hospital before lunch time. You get an all liquid diet instead. The 'jello' was awful but the chicken broth was surprisingly tasty. :)

This experience definitely made me grateful we have a friend lined up to watch P when I go into labor. She is just a bit too energetic to stay in one room for 4-5 hrs. But she only pulled the cord in the bathroom to have the nurses come running in once.

I have hair. I promise.
One thing we have been wanting to do for a long time is stain our dining room table. It was given to us by Jordin's brother, Brad. It was the yellow pine color but we preferred a darker look. When we moved into our new apt we never put the table in it and instead put it in the garage so we would make sure and finally stain it. We did this last weekend and it's not quite finished yet, but we LOVE it so far!

This is Jordin taking the original poly coats off. It wasn't prego lady friendly with all the heavy fumes so I just watched from outside of the garage.

But I did get to sand with our new sander! It was fun!/ took forever!!

She played and just tried to be entertained while we worked.

This is the dark stain we used. I ended up looking like a leper when I was done because of all the splatter marks, but the table looks good!
I thought I had a pic of the current state of the table, but since then we've put coats of poly all over it and it just needs some touch-ups on the legs.

I want to add a random anecdote about living in the South that I thought was funny. We went out for dinner last weekend to this nice cafe restaurant that has great American classics like chicken pot pie and things like that. So I showed Jordin this thing on the menu called fried chicken and waffles. I thought it sounded awful which means that of course Jordin thought it sounded intriguing. So that is what he ordered. Apparently it is a common Southern dish. It's weird if you ask me. All in all, Jordin said it was just okay and would have been better if it had a sauce or something to liven it up a bit.

On Monday I had my first dr apt where she checks to see if I'm dilated at all. I was 50% effaced and 1-2 cm dilated.
She also said she could feel baby Porter's head. (I'm pretty sure he dropped about 2 weeks ago.) My awesome doc said that she estimates I will probably go into active labor around 37-38 weeks... I'm at 36 wks tomorrow. So I've got a lot to do just in case my doc is right!

She's just so cute!

When you get bored (aka, your kid gets bored) you find ways to entertain her. ;) This is Dr. Eeyore.
So I have a little nesting going on because I woke up from a nap yesterday and just felt like I HAD to get the boppy cover made that I've been planned but haven't got to yet. So I run to Hobby Lobby and get some really awesome fabric. It actually took me forever to decide because I'm super indecisive and I didn't want something in baby blue- I wanted something bright and modern. And I found this cool orange canvas fabric. So after using this link from pinterest as a guide I made my own boppy cover! Instead of using the boppy as a guide, I used one of pai's old covers. It worked really well. I had help from Jordin for the zipper because I had never done one but he had because his mom is a seamstress and taught him how. Isn't that cool? Anyway, after a little re-adjusting here and there, I came up with this final product. I love it! It's just the feel I wanted. And now that it's done I can take it to the hospital with me when I go in!

Pretty, huh?! I love it and I am super proud of myself! :)

So as an additional update about the fam, Jordin and I are falling apart!! The poor boy is never sick and never goes to the dr, but he has been having killer back pain for about 2 months and it's only getting worse. So after about 6 different dr appointments with all kinds of doctors, we found out that he has a herniated disk in his lower back. So the boy that never takes medication is currently taking like 5 pills a day and has appointments for physical therapy and injections into the disk (ouch!). Then today, in addition to all of the prego symptoms like sciatica, I picked up Miss P this morning and pulled a muscle in my back that makes moving my right arm super painful. And like an hour later Jordin texted me and told me he rolled his ankle! I don't know when we turned 95, but it sure sneaks up on ya fast! :) We'll be okay and I just think its ironic that we are both falling apart at the same time.

Sorry if this post was super random, but I did give you warning at the beginning. ;)

But that's all for now, folks!

One man's trash is a bed for P-Cakes.

Hey, all!

I am super excited about this before and after.

As always, there is a story to go with it.

About a week ago, we were driving home from a church activity at night. We were almost to our house when I looked at a house in our neighborhood and they had this toddler bed out on their lawn next to their garbage can.

(Something that is great about our trash service is that you can put ANYTHING next to your garbage and the good trash men will take it. No need to deal with it yourself.)

I yelled for Jordin to stop the car and we get out and look at this nasty, dirty toddler bed. It looked like it was in great condition, minus the thick layer of cobwebs and dust.

So, being us, we haul it home on the top of Claire.

Here is the before pic:

Before
Then, after a coat of Primer and some white paint, this is the after:

After
Nice, huh!? Especially because it was free!

We have been needing to get her a bed for a while because she can climb out of her crib so easily. Plus with the baby coming we just needed to upgrade her sleeping conditions. Initially, we were going to get her a twin bed but now we can save some money and wait a couple of years until she grows out of this bed. Her crib mattress fit perfectly in this bed so now all we need is another crib mattress when the baby comes, but those are a lot cheaper than a big mattress!

She LOVES it! While I was painting is she would stand on it and say, "Bed! Bed! Bed!". Silly little girl.

Merry Christmas and an update with pictures!

Merry Christmas, Everyone!!

It has been a very long time since I've kept you up-to-date on our life here in Texas. Things that have been going on:

Thanksgiving- My parents, my sister Megan, and her husband Seth came to visit for a week. We had a blast. We did A LOT of shopping, ate A LOT of food, and generally just had a good ol' time. One of the reasons that I was taking so long to update about Thanksgiving was because I wanted to Photoshop pictures, but since I still haven't done that, you're getting them in all their un-photoshopped glory.  Get ready, there's a lot and they are definately not in any specific order.

This is Pailey playing with Megan's sunglasses. She likes glasses.

She is so her dad's girl. She loves pancakes!!

If you've ever met, played games, or watched a movie with me past 8:30, this is how I look. I'm not so much a night person.

Uncle Seth and P-Cakes

This is the ferry that took us to Bolivar Island and the beach!

Meg and Seth on the ferry.

P cakes on the beach. She's not a fan of sand on her hands and feet.

Nana, Me and P-Cakes playing on the beach.

Nana and P cakes!

This cute couple just celebrated their first anniversary. Can you tell? Lovebirds. :)

I love this picture of my dad. He looks so happy. :)

On Bolivar Island.

Bolivar Peninsula (I keep calling it an Island but it is really a peninsula...)

This is on the way back to Galveston on the ferry. She was 'driving'. Look ma, no hands!

This is at the Kemah Aquarium restaurant. YUMMY food!!!

Pailey is a wee bit tired....

She loved all of the fish!

I swear Pailey does smile, just not when she is missing nap time.

Nemo is found!

I like this picture too. Good family pic.

I told you she loves glasses. And she's got style.

Cute!

This is the group playing Wii Mario Party. Good times! Seth beat everyone....

Dash is back! Ruff!

This is me in my happy place. I love decorating for Thanksgiving! Here I was pouring Mormon Cocktails. aka Sprite and fruit juice.

This is a big ol' candy shop in Galveston. They have Kahlua truffles.... Mmmm...

This is back at Bolivar. Having our picnic in the crazy wind.

She loves her aunt and uncle!

The Kemah boardwalk. I love this place.

Lunch at the Aquarium. She's a big girl!

This is Nana and Papa babysitting P while Jordin and I take Megan and Seth back to the airport.

Nothings better than pictures from the bath time.

I love this picture! Jordin thinks she looks ridiculous, but I love it.
This is Thanksgiving Day and I thought it was a good pic of Meg. She's pretty.

So that was a fun trip to have everyone here. It was almost a year since I saw Meg so it was a really great time.

So then it was Christmas time.... Here is a very cool lighted park in a town south of us. There were millions of lights! It was pretty cool.

Oh, I forgot about this fun craft that I did with P-cakes. I made some fun paint with sweetened condensed milk and food coloring.  It is super sticky and made a mess but Pailey had a blast.
Here is the painting she made.

It ended up getting so messy that I put her in the tub and let her run wild. She looks so coy!

It cleaned up really easily and it was actually really fun to make a big ol' mess!

Well, that is really all that has been going on. Now we have Christmas coming and we are very excited! Our tree is beautiful. We bought a real one because it was way cheaper and then we made garland out of creme burlap. Which I love! Then we used red and silver ornaments. The best part is the tree topper. We bought some white starfish, glued them together and then wrapped them in thin gold ribbon. Am I explaining too much? Well, that's because I am super proud of it. :)I wanted to take a pic of it but I can't find the cord to plug into the computer.  So hopefully later.

It's been a while...

Hello! It's only been over 2 1/2 years since I last posted. Nothing really has changed between then and now... except most everything! :...
