Things we've done.

Because life is random, this post is going to be a random medley of things that the Boyd's have been up to. Sorry if it's too detailed, but since I have a severe case of prego brain and can't remember anything, I want to make sure I keep track of events.

To start, here are some pics of Jordin's birthday cake that I made. He loved it. It's a campfire, Get it?

He's so old that I only had 24 of the tall candles and had to add 2 pink ones to add up to 26!!

Here is a video of Pai at the bowling alley when Jordin's work had a party there. They did the disco lights and loud music for a bit and she LOVED it. I especially like the end where she is like, "Okay, I'm done." :)

So about 2 weeks ago, Pai and I were working on getting our old house all cleaned up and ready to be officially moved out, when I had a long painful contraction. So I waited a bit and then called my Dr and her nurse told me to go to the hospital. I didn't really want to, but I was freaked out a bit. So Jordin left work and came and took me to the hospital. By the time we got there the pain had gone, so I called the nurse again to see if we really needed to go in and she said its better to be safe than sorry. Agreed.

So we spent about 4-5 hrs with monitors on my belly to make sure everything was okay. After 5 hrs they didn't find anything to have caused the random 20 min contraction but they did see that I did have some contractions while I was there. They said that it could have been caused by stress, being sick (I had a little cough), dehydration, a pulled muscle, etc. At least everything was fine with the baby.
This is what happens when you go to the hospital before lunch time. You get an all liquid diet instead. The 'jello' was awful but the chicken broth was surprisingly tasty. :)

This experience definitely made me grateful we have a friend lined up to watch P when I go into labor. She is just a bit too energetic to stay in one room for 4-5 hrs. But she only pulled the cord in the bathroom to have the nurses come running in once.

I have hair. I promise.
One thing we have been wanting to do for a long time is stain our dining room table. It was given to us by Jordin's brother, Brad. It was the yellow pine color but we preferred a darker look. When we moved into our new apt we never put the table in it and instead put it in the garage so we would make sure and finally stain it. We did this last weekend and it's not quite finished yet, but we LOVE it so far!

This is Jordin taking the original poly coats off. It wasn't prego lady friendly with all the heavy fumes so I just watched from outside of the garage.

But I did get to sand with our new sander! It was fun!/ took forever!!

She played and just tried to be entertained while we worked.

This is the dark stain we used. I ended up looking like a leper when I was done because of all the splatter marks, but the table looks good!
I thought I had a pic of the current state of the table, but since then we've put coats of poly all over it and it just needs some touch-ups on the legs.

I want to add a random anecdote about living in the South that I thought was funny. We went out for dinner last weekend to this nice cafe restaurant that has great American classics like chicken pot pie and things like that. So I showed Jordin this thing on the menu called fried chicken and waffles. I thought it sounded awful which means that of course Jordin thought it sounded intriguing. So that is what he ordered. Apparently it is a common Southern dish. It's weird if you ask me. All in all, Jordin said it was just okay and would have been better if it had a sauce or something to liven it up a bit.

On Monday I had my first dr apt where she checks to see if I'm dilated at all. I was 50% effaced and 1-2 cm dilated.
She also said she could feel baby Porter's head. (I'm pretty sure he dropped about 2 weeks ago.) My awesome doc said that she estimates I will probably go into active labor around 37-38 weeks... I'm at 36 wks tomorrow. So I've got a lot to do just in case my doc is right!

She's just so cute!

When you get bored (aka, your kid gets bored) you find ways to entertain her. ;) This is Dr. Eeyore.
So I have a little nesting going on because I woke up from a nap yesterday and just felt like I HAD to get the boppy cover made that I've been planned but haven't got to yet. So I run to Hobby Lobby and get some really awesome fabric. It actually took me forever to decide because I'm super indecisive and I didn't want something in baby blue- I wanted something bright and modern. And I found this cool orange canvas fabric. So after using this link from pinterest as a guide I made my own boppy cover! Instead of using the boppy as a guide, I used one of pai's old covers. It worked really well. I had help from Jordin for the zipper because I had never done one but he had because his mom is a seamstress and taught him how. Isn't that cool? Anyway, after a little re-adjusting here and there, I came up with this final product. I love it! It's just the feel I wanted. And now that it's done I can take it to the hospital with me when I go in!

Pretty, huh?! I love it and I am super proud of myself! :)

So as an additional update about the fam, Jordin and I are falling apart!! The poor boy is never sick and never goes to the dr, but he has been having killer back pain for about 2 months and it's only getting worse. So after about 6 different dr appointments with all kinds of doctors, we found out that he has a herniated disk in his lower back. So the boy that never takes medication is currently taking like 5 pills a day and has appointments for physical therapy and injections into the disk (ouch!). Then today, in addition to all of the prego symptoms like sciatica, I picked up Miss P this morning and pulled a muscle in my back that makes moving my right arm super painful. And like an hour later Jordin texted me and told me he rolled his ankle! I don't know when we turned 95, but it sure sneaks up on ya fast! :) We'll be okay and I just think its ironic that we are both falling apart at the same time.

Sorry if this post was super random, but I did give you warning at the beginning. ;)

But that's all for now, folks!

Christmas Pics... Better late than never!

Yesterday I finally found the cord that plugs the camera into the computer so I can finally put some pictures up on the blog!  We had a wonderful Christmas. It was just us for the first time and we had a great time. Some of the fun gifts that we got: dolls, books, some camping gear, and I got a fun Kindle!
Here's Pailey with a stroller she got from her Great-Grandma Connor!
I am so proud of this tree! I love it. Although I am still vacuuming up pine needles...

We went on walks but it was a bit cold so we bundled her up tight!
Love this pic of her swingin'.
THEN, the day after Christmas Jody, Daren, and Dusty drove to see us! They actually drove all Christmas night to get there about 3:30 the next afternoon! They love us. :)

We went to the Houston Zoo and if you can take your eyes off the the wonderful toddler, you can see these crazy cows that they have in Africa. Look how long their horns are!!!

You should hear my monkey call to go with it! Ooo-Ooo-Ooo!

She loved the Antelope!

This is what we had to do so she could see some of the exhibits.
We went to the Challenger 7 Memorial Park. I love this shot of P cakes and her Uncle Dusty.

They climb trees together.

So we took the frisbee to play with Dash and the wind whipped it into this MASSIVE thorny bush. Here the boys are trying to fish it out.

She's a natural model. Gorgeous!

Say Cheese!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this photo! Nana and Papa walking with P cakes!

For New Years, we played games and had lots of food. Including this Eggnog Trifle!

Bon Apetite!
These next pics are ones I took yesterday. She was having fun sitting in the window, so I had to get pictures.
I love silhouettes.

Buds.

There really is no baby more cute than her!
Now it's back to the same-ol' life. I can't believe the holidays are over already. Pailey also went to the ER this year! Can you believe it!? The poor girl had a temp of 105 and so we had to take her. It ended up being a viral infection and she's fine now but it sure took a lot out of all of us! Hope the rest of the year goes well. :)

Silliness and Pizzzzzzzaaaaaa

My kid is crazy. SO funny and I never know what she is going to come up with next!

Okay, first.
This has nothing to do with P-cakes but when we went to the Galleria mall in Houston last weekend, I had to get a pic of this Microsoft Store. It made me laugh. It unsuprisingly looked a lot like another popular computer company's stores. Copycats? Microsoft? Never... ahem.

 Okay, moving on.
Here is what P was doing earlier today when I was rearranging my NEW couches! This is a little car that she has.

Funny thing #1: She drives is backwards. She prefers to sit this way than the 'correct' way. But who says she has to follow the trends? :)
Funny thing #2: She pushes is backwards too! So the car will go the 'right' way, but she is looking the other. So silly.

On to the Pizza!

So I have been on this HUGE homemade pizza kick. We're talking about "making at least one once a week and then feasting on it for the next three days" kind of kick. It's delicious and I totally blame my friend Katie for getting me started. ;)

The only problem I have had is that I  have now mixed up the different pizza crust recipes and I can't remember which one was amazing and which one was blah.

Oops. I'll just have to make them again to figure it out!! Bwah haha!

I told you I'm obsessed.

Okay, so back to the point. I made the most delicious pizza EVER last night. I took the idea from the Pioneer Woman's website. (Who else do I get recipes from?? No one.)

Anywho, She had this recipe called Steakhouse Pizza:

Hello, Gorgeous.
Here's the link: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2011/09/steakhouse-pizza/

She did hers with steak and her layers were just a bit different than mine. So here is my version:

Pizza sauce with splashes of Balsamic (LOVE) and Worcestershire.

Then grill up an onion in butter and, again, Balsamic Vinegar.

Cook two chicken breasts in butter and generously splash red wine vinegar all over.

Oh, I cooked up some bacon too because that's how I woo my husband. ;)

Assemble: Sauce, Mozzarella, Onions, Bacon, Chicken, Drizzles of your favorite BBQ sauce, Chopped Green Onions, more cheesy Mozzarella.

This is my glorious pizza. Sorry it's already (and oddly) cut into. But I wanted to show you no matter how silly I chose to cut it into pieces! :)

It was SO good!! Yum! And if you made it all the way to the end of this post, congratulations and thank you for stickin' with me for so long.

It's been a while...

Hello! It's only been over 2 1/2 years since I last posted. Nothing really has changed between then and now... except most everything! :...
